Risk

"I lost millions of dollars with that trade, but gained billions in investment insights" - Martin Shkreli, on shorting quantum computing

Risk is fucking weird man, of course, the answer is always "take asymetric bets", while generally true and so far the advice i myself have been following my whole life, I feel like I am not taking enough risk myself

Asymetric Bets are the "bootstrapping" way of living life, slow but you always win in the long term.

Yet, it feels like a pussy way to live life, we will never get teletransportation, anti-matter or time travel in our lifetimes if everyone keeps thinking like that

I admire the gundo guys, Augustus Doricko from Rainmaker and Jakob for believing in hard-tech before it was popular

I used to mock Peter Thiel for always being contrarian, it was always kinda cringe, but if you are confortable eating rice & beans, sleeping in a parking lot & being lonely in SF, everything looks like an asymetric bet, there is nothing to lose, maybe your soul, particularly when you dont have PMF. But you gain the confidence to be truly contrarian.

So, how much Risk is Too much Risk?

A good heuristic, from what i've learned so far: You are taking 100x less risk than you should, take more risks, it's ALWAYS worth it.

List of things I don't regret doing:

  • - Doing drugs
  • - Falling in love with total strangers for 24h
  • - Quitting my job with no money saved, while having the obligation to financially support my mom
  • - Posting on social media
  • - Being myself
  • - Moving to SF with total strangers
  • - Traveling to DANGEROUS places/countries

As you can see, it's a pretty lame list, definetly more risky than the "average" person, yet nowhere close to what top-preformers do

This is why I will be Risk maxing, for the next couple of years/decades, increasing 10x Month over month the risk I take, until I either Die, or Win, there is no in between.

Bottlenecks & Growth

Risk is my current bottleneck in 2026, and the last thing I need to overcome.

I'm too lazy to go in depth, but here is a list of other bottlenecks people (myself included) struggle with, that I've overcomed:

  • - Working hard as fuck (16hr days, every day, for months)
  • - Pain tolerance: being able to recieve bad news , rejection and pain over , and over, for months, while not giving up, ever.
  • - Risk: (in progress), which basically means asking: "What if it works?" instead of thinking "99% chance of failure, let's do something else instead"
